Care built around children.
Founded in the early 1990s, PCRF grew from helping children access specialized treatment abroad into a broader medical and humanitarian organization supporting children across the region.

Access to care should not depend on where a child is born.
PCRF’s stated mission is to provide medical and humanitarian relief to children throughout the Levant, regardless of nationality or religion.
Its vision is a region where children can access quality medical care, humanitarian support and specialized surgical treatment when they need it.

PCRF mission in practice
From individual treatment to a broader system of support.
PCRF was founded in 1991 by humanitarians in the United States. Its early work centered on arranging free treatment abroad for children who could not access the care they needed locally.
Over time, that work expanded. Volunteer medical teams began traveling to hospitals in the region, humanitarian programs grew, and PCRF invested in equipment and healthcare infrastructure intended to strengthen local treatment capacity.
PCRF reports that its long-term projects have included pediatric cancer departments as well as pediatric intensive care and cardiology services, alongside many smaller clinical and humanitarian initiatives.
Care across the full journey.
PCRF combines different forms of support because medical need rarely fits into a single program.
Meet urgent needs
Medical aid and humanitarian relief help children and families navigate immediate crisis and gaps in access to care.
Mobilize expertise
Volunteer specialists, hospitals and local medical teams work together to deliver treatment and share expertise.
Invest for the long term
Infrastructure, equipment, training and ongoing programs help strengthen the care available locally over time.
Built around access, dignity and continuity.
The organization describes itself as humanitarian and nonreligious, with programs intended to serve children based on medical and humanitarian need.
Children first
Programs are organized around the medical and humanitarian needs of children and their families.
Care without discrimination
PCRF’s mission explicitly states that support is provided regardless of nationality or religion.
Local capacity matters
Medical missions are paired with training and support intended to strengthen what local healthcare teams can provide.
Relief and recovery
Emergency response is connected to longer-term treatment pathways, programs and health infrastructure.

Specialists giving time, skills and experience.
PCRF has organized hundreds of medical missions involving volunteer doctors and nurses from around the world. These teams provide specialized care while working alongside local professionals.
The volunteer model extends beyond clinicians, with supporters and community networks helping sustain fundraising, humanitarian response and program delivery.
